Unboxing & First Impressions – CAUSEBOX Spring 2021

Hello, hello – welcome to / welcome back to A Brash Attitude!

Today I’m sharing my unboxing and first impressions of my Spring 2021 CAUSEBOX. If you follow me on Instagram, you will have seen my unboxing, but here I share my first impressions, and total value of the subscription box. [info in italics taken from CAUSEBOX]

FIVE CORNERSTONES DEFINE EVERYTHING THAT WE DO AT CAUSEBOX. WE ARE: COMMUNITY FOCUSED, ETHICALLY MADE, ENVIRONMENTALLY CONSCIOUS, FOR WOMEN, AND IMPACT DRIVEN.

This quarter’s artwork was done by Charlotte Molas.

I have a basic subscription, so I don’t get to choose the items that I receive. But I like the element of surprise.

Now lets take a look at what I received:

Product 1 – FEED Projects Canvas Market Tote $108 USD

All subscribers received the tote, in one of three colours – glacial grey, coastal stripe or sea blue. I received glacial grey. I was excited about this reusable shopping bag, it is a great size, has loads of pockets, and is sturdy and well made. I will be using this for groceries / errands.

Product 2 – Palm + Perkins Set of 4 Upcycled Napkins $38 USD

For the second product, there were three possibilities: the Upcycled Napkins, a Nimble CHAMP Lite Portable Charger, or the DIFF Charitable Eyewear Finn Sea Tortoise Blue Light Glasses. I received the napkins – they’re made from upcycled cotton and plastic water bottles – they feel almost like a linen blend fabric, they’ll be well used in our house as I needed to replace a few of the cloth napkins that we’ve had in rotation.

I would have liked to receive the portable charger as well, this is something that I would definitely use. The blue light glasses, not so much, as I wear prescription glasses (with the blue light filter).

Product 3 – This Works Stress Check Sleep Spray $25 USD

For the third product, all subscribers received this aromatherapy bed spray. It smells really nice, and I will definitely put it to use.

Product 4 – Glass Ladder & Co Katherine Tech Organizer Roll $35

For the fourth product there were three possibilities: the Tech Organizer Roll, the Stojo Collapsible 16 oz cup, or Maji Sports Stretch & Exercise Bands. I received the Tech Organizer which I will definitely use, because I hate having all my chargers get tangled up, or misplaced.

I also would have liked to get either the travel cup or exercise bands, and would have used both.

Product 5 – Three Ships Lip Treatment Kit $30 USD

For the fifth product there there three possibilities: the Lip Kit, a PUR Lit Mist Illuminating Setting Spray, or a Province Apothecary Regenerating Exfoliator + Resurfacing Mask. I received the Lip Kit and as a lip balm addict, I couldn’t be more thrilled. It contains a lip scrub and a lip mask.

I also would not have minded getting either of the two alternates, but the Lip Kit was made for me!

Product 6 – Adesse New York Power Couple Nail Care Duo $36 USD

All subscribers received the nail care duo. It contains a Nail Growth Optimizer and a Cuticle Oil. Because of the past year of constant hand washing and hand sanitizer use, my nails need strengthening and hydration, so this is perfect for me.

The Spring 2021 box cost me $62.90 USD ($54.95 + shipping to Canada) which works out to $81.89 CAD based on the exchange rate that I paid ($1.3019), so the value of this box is $272 USD which works out to $354.12 CAD! The yearly subscription which you pay in full works out to be cheaper per box and you get customization choices, but I’m liking the element of surprise so far!

I’m super happy with everything that I received! All are things that I will use. My only complaint is that it takes forever for the boxes to ship out!

Reviews to follow for the Sleep Spray, Lip Kit and Nail Care Duo once I’ve had a chance to try them out!

CAUSEBOX Winter 2021 Unboxing & First Impressions

Hello, hello! Welcome to / welcome back to A Brash Attitude!

Today I’m sharing my unboxing and first impressions of the Winter 2021 CAUSEBOX – this is a quarterly subscription [info in italics taken from the CAUSEBOX website]

FIVE CORNERSTONES DEFINE EVERYTHING THAT WE DO AT CAUSEBOX. WE ARE: COMMUNITY FOCUSED, ETHICALLY MADE, ENVIRONMENTALLY CONSCIOUS, FOR WOMEN, AND IMPACT DRIVEN.

Causebox Winter 2021

The art of the Winter 2021 box, sticker and postcard is by the duo Sacrée Frangine – which is Célia Amroune and Aline Kpade. Sacrée Frangine roughly translates into sacred sister(hood).

I have a basic subscription, so I don’t get to choose the items that I receive. But I like the element of surprise. Here’s the list of possible products, and information on each one:

Causebox Winter 2021
Causebox Winter 2021
Causebox Winter 2021

Now lets take a look at what I received:

One: Thread & Supply Cozy Cloud Wrap ($115 USD)

Causebox Winter 2021

This sweater is SO SOFT and COZY! The length is approximately to my hips, and the soft gray colours make it super wearable – it will pretty much go with everything I own!

Two: Activated Eco Reusable Silicone Baking Sheets ($18 USD)

I love to cook, and was *just* talking about wanting to get these. They make post cooking cleanup so much easier – I’ve already used them twice! I love that it is a pack of two.

Three: SKIN&CO Roma Truffle Therapy Face Toner ($30 USD)

Causebox Winter 2021

I love skincare, so I’ll happily test this out and post a full review in a few weeks.

Four: Zeal Living Marble Geo Coasters ($42 USD)

Causebox Winter 2021

These coasters are so beautiful! And we will actually use them.

Five: ettitude Travel Beauty Pillowcase ($25 USD)

Causebox Winter 2021

This is a bamboo “silk” type pillow case and travel pouch. I had mentioned recently that I wanted to get a silk pillowcase, so this is perfect timing! It is a little wrinkled after being taken out of the pouch, but I did not feel like digging out my iron this morning.

Six: Idlewild Co. Yearly Planner ($32 USD)

Causebox Winter 2021

I still use a paper planner in conjunction with my iPhone calendar. I will use this one for blog planning and for keeping track of my yoga practices.

The Winter 2021 box cost me $62.90 USD ($54.95 + shipping to Canada) which works out to $83.56 CAD based on the exchange rate that I paid ($1.3284), so the value of this box is $262 USD which works out to $348.04 CAD! The yearly subscription is cheaper and you get customization choices, but I’m liking the element of surprise so far!

I’m super happy with everything that I received! All are things that I will use.

Aromatherapy Associates De-Stress Muscle Gel Review

Hello, hello! Welcome to / welcome back to A Brash Attitude!

Today I’m reviewing the Aromatherapy Associates De-Stress Muscle Gel that came in my Fall CAUSEBOX. [info in italics taken from the Aromatherapy Associates website]

Our best selling De-Stress Muscle Gel first cools inflamed muscles before imparting a deep, comforting warmth. Invigorating Black Pepper and warming Ginger are the perfect antidote to an intense workout, a demanding day, or in-flight heavy legs, leaving muscles soothed and relaxed.

Not only is this muscle gel great for sore muscles, it smells amazing with the black pepper, ginger, rosemary and lavender – much like the De-Stress Muscle Bath & Shower Oil which I have previously tried and absolutely loved!

You can also use it on the back of your neck or temples when you have a headache!

INGREDIENTS: Aqua (Water), Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Flower Water, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Water, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavendar) Oil, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Oil, Melaleuca Leucadendron Cajaputi (Cajput) Oil, Parfum**, Pogostemon Cablin (Patchouli) Leaf Oil, Juniperus Communis (Juniper) Fruit Oil, Zingiber Officinale (Ginger) Root Oil, Pinus Sylvestris (Pine) Leaf Oil, Piper Nigrum (Black Pepper) Seed Oil, Carbomer, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Sodium Hydroxide, Citral*, Coumarin*, Geraniol*, Limonene*, Linalool*. *Natural Essential Oil Contents **Natural Plant Extracts

Have you tried this Muscle Gel? Do you have a favourite one?

CAUSEBOX Summer Intro Box 3 – Unboxing & First Impressions

Hello, hello! Welcome to A Brash Attitude!

Today I’m sharing my unboxing and first impressions of my first ever CAUSEBOX – the Summer Intro Box 3. It is a quarterly seasonal subscription. [info in italics taken from the CAUSEBOX website]

CauseBox Summer 1

Five cornerstones define everything that we do at CAUSEBOX. We are: community focused, ethically made, environmentally conscious, for women, and impact driven.

CAUSEBOX SUMMER INTRO BOX 3

Let’s take a look at what is inside:

CAUSEBOX SUMMER INTRO BOX 3

I ordered the Summer Intro Box because I really wanted the Zoe Crossbody Bag from Pixie Mood – I received it in Sage. It is a gorgeous bag, and photos just don’t do the colour justice! It is a beautifully constructed vegan leather handbag, and the interior lining is made from recycled plastic bottles.

CauseBox Summer 10

The next item is the 10-Piece Makeup Brush Collection from La Beauté Soi. These brushes are cruelty free. And I love the brush roll – great for travel! (Review to follow once I’ve tried them out)

The next item is a set of 6 silicone stretch lids from Altcooking Hub. I’m actually really happy about getting them, as we were talking about buying a set.

The next item is skincare – yay! The Grace & Stella Hyaluronic Acid Serum. Super happy to get a facial serum, especially from a brand that I’ve never tried before! (review to follow once I’ve tested it out)

CAUSEBOX SUMMER INTRO BOX 3 - Grace & Stella Hyaluronic Acid Serum

The final item is another skincare product – yay! Wyld French Pink Clay Konjac Sponge. I’m always happy to get skincare. (review to follow, once I’ve tried it out)

CAUSEBOX SUMMER INTRO BOX 3 - Wyld French Pink Clay Konjac Sponge

It cost me $32.90 USD for the Summer Intro Box which with the exchange rate of 1.3784 worked out to be $45.35 CAD so the value of this box is $148 USD which works out to $204 CAD!

The regular quarterly subscription is $54.95 USD plus $7.95 for shipping to Canada. The yearly subscription is cheaper, but I didn’t want to commit to a year just yet.

Have you tried CAUSEBOX? So far I like it!

Fashion Meets Art – Mugler Couturissme Exhibition at Musèe des Beaux-Arts Montrèal

Hello, hello!

Today I have something a little different to share with you – a selection of photos from my visit to the Thierry Mugler Coutuissme exhibition at the Musèe des Beaux-Arts Montrèal (Montreal Museum of Fine Arts). If you follow me on Instagram, you might recognize these photos from my Stories. [info in italics taken from the MBAM website]

Thierry Mugler Couturissme

Premiering in Montreal, Thierry Mugler: Couturissime brings together more than 150 garments made between 1977 and 2014, most of which are being shown for the first time, as well as a wealth of unpublished archival documents and sketches. One hundred or so photographs by such world-renowned fashion photographers as Helmut Newton, Sarah Moon, Pierre et Gilles, David LaChapelle, Paolo Roversi, Herb Ritts, Dominique Issermann, Guy Bourdin and Richard Avedon, to name a few, round out the show. Each of the immersive galleries has been designed in collaboration with talented artist-designers and set designers, including Michel Lemieux, Philipp Fürhofer and Rodeo FX.

If you get a chance to go see this exhibition in person, you should! I’m probably going to go back for a second visit – so many beautiful details to look at!

I’m back!

Hello, hello!

I’m back from my mini vacation, and the blog will return to its regular content on Friday. I was in Nova Scotia with the Mister to visit my parents, and attend my cousin’s wedding.

Where my parents live, there are beautiful trails and lots of deer – we came upon two in someone’s yard snacking on the trees and shrubs. These were taken from across the road so not as to scare them away:

I had planned on keeping up with all of your blogs – reading and commenting, but failed at this, so I’ve loads to catch up on.

Mini Clothing Haul

Hello, hello!

Today I have something a little different – a peek at the clothes that I bought last weekend. I went shopping with the goal of purchasing one or two blouses that would work with what I already had in my closet. I haven’t bought myself any clothes in so long! Here’s what I got (all at 20% off):

1. Printed jersey t-shirt

Mini Haul (H+M) April 2018

2. Flowy printed blouse (Anna Glover X H+M Collab) – I love this type of blouse with jeans, skirts or shorts. I wore this blouse on Wednesday to a client meeting with a pair of dark wash skinny jeans.

Mini Haul (H+M) April 2018

3. Floral printed collar shirt – it is weird, I don’t usually go for prints that often, but this season I saw SO MANY prints that I really liked. Again, I can see wearing this one with several jeans, skirts or even shorts in my wardrobe. This photo does not do the print justice at all.

Mini Haul (H+M) April 2018

4. Printed shirt dress (Anna Glover X H+M Collab) – This not something that I would normally try on, let alone buy, but I really liked the print and decided to try it on and LOVED it! I can picture wearing this with a cute pair of flats or sandals (or more likely flip flops).Mini Haul (H+M) April 2018

Bonus – a little birthday gift to me from me:

Every year, around my birthday, Softmoc has a Friends and Family sale (usually 25% discount I think), so I bought myself a new pair of Vans slip-on sneakers to replace my old pair. I think I had my last pair for three years and they were so worn out!

Mini Haul April 2018 - Vans

So there you have it,  my mini clothing haul. Hope you enjoyed something a little different than my usual reviews.

Thanks for reading and have a beautiful day!

Disclosure: All were purchased by me for me. Thanks me!
