Nyx Cosmetics Born to Glow Naturally Radiant Foundation Review

Hello, hello!

Today I’m reviewing the Born to Glow Naturally Radiant Foundation from Nyx Cosmetics – I purchased it a few weeks ago, and have been trying it out. [info in italics taken from the Nyx Canada website]

Nyx Born to Glow Naturally Radiant Foundation

We. Can’t. Even. The brand-new Born to Glow! Naturally Radiant Foundation is so glowrious. Available in an inclusive range of 45 truly flattering shades, our covetable formula delivers buildable medium coverage and a naturally radiant finish that lasts. This liquid foundation blends like a dream and even works with your skin to help create a smooth, even-toned look. Turn up the luminosity with our other Born to Glow! must-haves.

Nyx Born to Glow Naturally Radiant Foundation

This foundation is available in 45 shades – pretty great range for a drugstore foundation! ranging from Pale to Deep Ebony, with cool, neutral and warm undertones. I purchased the shade light porcelain – which is a great match for my pale winter skintone.

Nyx Born to Glow Naturally Radiant Foundation

The coverage feels light on the skin, but the coverage is medium. The finish is radiant and natural looking. Just make sure that your moisturizer and / or primer has fully absorbed into the skin before applying the foundation – or else you might get some pilling – which I did once or twice when in a hurry! But when I take the time to let things absorb, this foundation plays nicely with my skincare.

I think that it is a great budget friendly foundation if you want a natural, radiant, healthy skin look!

Have you tried this foundation?

Nyx Born to Glow Radiant Concealer Review

Hello, hello!

Today I’m reviewing the Born to Glow Radiant Concealer from Nyx Cosmetics – I purchased, and have been trying it out for a few weeks now. [info in italics taken from the Nyx Canada website]

Nyx Born to Glow Radiant Concealer - Fair

Carefully calibrated to match our Born to Glow Naturally Radiant Foundation, NYX Professional Makeup Born to Glow Radiant Concealer will give you instantly brighter eyes in a puff! This micropearl-infused radiant concealer covers up blemishes, blurs imperfections, and boosts radiance. Also great as a contour concealer, the built-in puff blender allows for quick, precise, no-fuss application and lets you dab, blend and beautify on the go.

Nyx Born to Glow Radiant Concealer - Fair

This concealer is available in 24 shades, ranging from pale to deep espresso, with cool, neutral and warm undertones. I chose the shade fair which is a perfect colour match for my winter paleness.

Nyx Born to Glow Radiant Concealer - Fair

This concealer helps conceal redness, and any uneven pigmentation without leaving the skin looking flat. It adds a radiant finish to the skin, and works well for brightening. I like it a lot!

I’ll be reviewing the Born to Glow Radiant Foundation this week as well.

Have you tried this? Do you have a favourite concealer?

Nyx Cosmetics High Glass Finishing Powder Review

Hello, hello!

Today I’m reviewing the High Glass Finishing Powder from Nyx Cosmetics that I recently purchased online because I finally managed to finish my last pressed powder! [info in italics taken from the Nyx Canada website]

Nyx High Glass Finishing Powder

Blur imperfections and keep it glassy all-day long with our new High Glass Finishing Powder! As Step 2 of our 3-Step High Glass Skin Regimen, this versatile formula was designed to be worn over High Glass Face Primer or the foundation of choice. Available in three light-reflecting shades which stretch across light to deep skin tones (light, medium, and deep), each shimmering setting powder sets your makeup and gives the complexion a sleek and polished glass-like glow. Glass skin, defined: Evolving from K-Beauty’s dedication to a healthy, glowy, hydrated-looking complexion, “glass skin” refers to skin that looks translucent, smooth and reflective—just like a pane of glass.

Nyx High Glass Finishing Powder

This powder is available in three shades: light, medium and deep. I purchased the shade light.

Nyx High Glass Finishing Powder

I had though that this finishing powder would probably give my skin a radiant glowy finish, but wow, this is mega glittery, when I use it, it looks as if I did my whole face with a highlighting powder. Way too shimmery for every day usage for me! I will however use it as a highlighter, because it is really pretty.

Nyx Soft Matte Lip Cream Review and Swatching (Stockholm)

Nyx Soft Matte Lip Cream - Stockholm Swatch

Hello, hello!

Today I have a little review of another goody from the package that I won from Rossy’s recent giveaway (Ayr Galaxy) – the Nyx Soft Matte Lip Cream in the shade Stockholm. [info in italics taken from the Nyx Canada website]

Nyx Soft Matte Lip Cream - Stockholm

Our velvety smooth Soft Matte Lip Cream delivers a burst of creamy color and sets to a stunning Matte finish. Surprisingly durable, lightweight and delightfully creamy, it’s no wonder this sweetly scented formula is a NYX Professional Makeup fan favorite.

WHAT IT DOES – Envelopes the lips in creamy, highly pigmented matte color.

WHY WE LOVE IT – This fan-favorite formula is light on the lips and heavy on the pigmentation –a perfect combination. Enriched with skin-smoothing silicones, our Soft Matte Lip Creams keep your pout looking and feeling soft with a creamy whipped texture.

Nyx Soft Matte Lip Cream - Stockholm Swatch

The shade Stockholm is described as a mid-tone beige pink  (pink toned nude shade). I feel that it is slightly too light, and pulls quite pink on my lips since I’m so pale, but if I combine it with a slightly darker nude lip crayon from my stash it makes the perfect shade for me. I do love the formula, it is super creamy and doesn’t dry my lips out.

Empties – June 2019

Hello,  hello!

Another month seems to have flown by, and I have once again managed to finish up a few things. Let’s take a look, and I’ll let you know if I plan on re-buying (either right away, or adding to my wishlist to purchase eventually) or not at all. I’ll also link to any reviews.

Empties June 2019 - Hask, EVOLVh, Nova Scotia Fisherman and Native

Hask Chia Seed Volumizing Dry Shampoo – I already have a replacement in my stash. I like this one because it doesn’t smell too strong, and it doesn’t make my hair feel weird. Review is here.

Evolvh Smart Curl Hydrating Wash and Conditioner – This was part of the EVOLVh Love Your Curls Discovery Kit that was PR Gifted. The bottles are tiny but I got a surprising number of uses from them. Both are going on my wishlist, as I have other shampoo and conditioners to use up in my stash. Review is here.

Native Deodorant Sensitive Formula in Cotton + Lily – I already have a replacement in my stash, in the Rosé Scent, and the regular formula in Vanilla + Rose. I’ve been using Native Deodorants for over a year now. Review for the sensitive formula is here and the regular formula is here.

Nova Scotia Fisherman Naturally Moisturizing Hand & Body Cream – The only reason why I haven’t replaced this is because they were sold out at my local pharmacy the last time that I was buying body lotion, so I bought something else instead. I’ll definitely buy it again because it works so well and the scent is mild. Review is here.

Empties June 2019 - The Ordinary, Milani

The Ordinary Argireline Solution – This was in my recent mini project pan, it took me longer to finish than I thought it would. I have so many serums on my wishlist that I want to try, so I probably won’t re-purchase for awhile. Review is here.

Camille Beckman Glycerine Hand Therapy English Lavender – This was part of a birthday gift that I received. It was a great hand cream for winter, the glycerine made it long lasting. This was never reviewed.

Milani The Multitasker Face Powder in shade 02 Light Medium. This took me so long to finish after hitting pan. I even re-pressed it! I have other face powders to finish in my stash, so I won’t re-purchase right now. Review is here.

Not pictured: Le Prunier Plum Beauty Oil – this was a Petit Vour sample. I managed to finish it up, and dropped it in the sink while rinsing it out. I really liked this facial oil, but have a few in my stash to finish up. Review is here.

Empties June 2019 -Makeup De-Stash Essenece, Stila, Tarte, Nyx

De-Stash / De-Clutter of Old Makeup: These are all more than two years old (the white eyeliner is way older than that) – time to de-stash!

Did you manage to finish up much this past month?

Thanks for reading

Disclosure: Post contains two PR gifted items identified above. However my opinion is my own.

Monthly Empties – November 2018

Hello, hello!

Another month of products that I’ve managed to finish up. Let’s take a look and I’ll tell you if I plan on repurchasing (or not).

Haircare:

Empties November 2018

Attitude Super Leaves Shampoo in Color Protection (Avocado Oil & Pomegranate) – I finished up the conditioner awhile back. I really like the shampoos and conditioners from Attitude, I’ve tried a few of the formulations in the Super Leaves line, and in fact, I’m testing out another one right now, so I won’t be re-purchasing right away. (Reviews for the Color Protection and Nourishing & Strengthening)

Ouai Wave Spray – This wave spray worked so well for my hair – I love the beautiful beachy waves that it gives, but unless they come out with a milder scent, I probably won’t re-purchase. If you aren’t sensitive to scents, you will probably love this one. Review is here.

Skincare:

Empties November 2018

Formulary 55 Rosehip & Clay Facial Mask – this came in a Petit Vour box. I really liked this clay mask, I think that I managed to get six uses from the package. I have a few facial masks in my stash to use up so I don’t plan on purchasing at this time. Review is here.

The Ordinary Alpha Arbutin Serum – This was nearly finished when I knocked it over and the bottle shattered on my bathroom floor! Oops! I have so many serums to use up, that I am not buying any at this time until I finished up several more. Review is here.

Personelle Brand Facial Cotton Squares – I use these for removing mascara and swatches. I tend to buy whatever is on sale. These ones were not soft, and tended to leave cotton fibres in my lashes, so I’m going to try to remember not to buy these ones again.

Olverum Bath Oil – Another Petit Vour box gem – I absolutely LOVED this bath oil! I managed to get five or six baths from this bottle. This bath oil is at the top of my wishlist! I’m only buying necessary things for myself right now and this one is a luxury splurge. Review is here.

Poetic Blend The Cosmic Serum – I received this in a mega awesome giveaway package that I had won from Poetic Blend. This is a beautiful hydrating serum, it is on my wishlist to purchase after I use up a few more serums from my stash. Review is here.

Nova Scotia Fisherman Cuticle Rescue – This is a must have for nails  / cuticles! I’m currently using up a cuticle oil from my stash, so I don’t need to repurchase this yet, but again, it is one that I have on my wishlist. Review is here.

Makeup Decluttering:

Empties November 2018

I liked all three of these products, but it is time to let them go as I’ve either had them way too long, or they’ve dried out. The two highlighters Nyx Born to Glow and Soap & Glory Glow All Out were featured recently in my Highlighter Stash, but sadly they’ve started to go off or dry out. The ColourPop Ultra Satin Lip was in the shade Frick n Frack – which I LOVED – has also started to dry out, so it is high time to let it go!

Did you finish up a lot this month? I’m pretty happy with the progress that I making in working my way through my stash and using things up whenever possible, and decluttering when products have been kept too long.

Nyx Total Control Drop Foundation Review

Hello, hello!

Today I’m reviewing the new Total Control Drop Foundation from Nyx. Here’s what it says on the website:

From sheer to full, your ideal coverage is just drops away with our new Total Control Drop Foundation! Fine-tune this velvety, matte foundation with the included dropper. Simply adjust the number of drops until you create the look you’re feelin’ today. Want more coverage? Add more drops! Buff expertly using the TOTAL CONTROL DROP FOUNDATION BRUSH for a seriously smooth finish

Available in 24 different shades – ranging from pale to deep espresso with warm, neutral and cool undertones. I chose to test out porcelain (neutral undertones), the third lightest shade in the range.

Nyx Total Control Drop Foundation

The foundation is super liquidy, and you can choose the level of coverage – in the instructions it says to use 2 or more drops for light, 3 or more for medium, and four or more drops for full coverage.

Nyx Total Control Drop FoundationNyx Total Control Drop Foundation

I’ve tried applying with my Wayne Goss foundation brush, with my Real Techniques blending sponge, and with my fingers. I prefer applying with fingers and then blending with my brush, due to how watery the foundation is and being better able to control the application that way.

The finish really does feel velvety and smooth, but not super flat matte when applied on the sheerer side – hopefully that makes sense. I find that a really flat matte finish makes me look completely dead. Heavier application will cake up on dry areas, so I wouldn’t recommend this foundation if you have super dry skin and want full coverage. I have mostly normal and slightly dry skin right now.

Have you tried this foundation? Did you like it?

Nyx #NoFilter Finishing Powder Review

Hello, hello!

Today I have a little review of the Nyx #NoFilter Finishing Powder. I picked this up in my recent Nyx haul because my Too Faced Cocoa Powder Foundation is so close to finishing.

Here’s what it says on the website:

Introduce us to someone who doesn’t love a good photo filter, and we’ll introduce you to our secret herd of pet unicorns. Our point? When it comes to getting our picture taken, we all love a good filter. That’s why we created #NoFilter Finishing Powder–our amazing new product that delivers a finish as flawless and soft as the most flattering filters on Instagram and beyond.

This finishing powder is available in fifteen different shades: alabaster, porcelain, ivory, light, light beige, beige, medium olive, classic tan, honey beige, caramel beige, sand, golden, deep golden, mahogony, and cocoa. I picked the shade porcelain since it was one of the lighter shades, but not the absolute lightest, and I had already tried the concealer in this shade.

When I first opened this powder, I thought that it would be way too dark for me because it is so much darker looking than the concealer in the same shade. Thankfully, it actually swatches to match my skin tone perfectly.

Nyx #NoFilter Finishing Powder

This is a really silky smooth powder, and it gives my skin a really nice finish. I’m very happy with this one.

Just FYI – this powder does not come with a brush or a sponge-puff. I’ve been using a brush for applying.

Have you tried this finishing powder? Did you like it?

Thanks for reading and have a beautiful day! ❤
